The House of Tutti
Lancetti Station, Milan - June 7, 8, 2012
La casa di tutti was an action that took place on June 7 and 8, 2012 at the Lancetti train station in Milan. During this time lapse, a shared space was built on the station carousel. The octagonal space that housed the intervention is one of the countless spaces in Milan's train stations, spaces that were built for commercial purposes at the same time as the stations themselves, but that were never used. To avoid this waste of spaces and to make visible the opportunities they provided, the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera (Milan) in collaboration with the City Council of the Lombard city organized different initiatives, allowing freedom of expression to students and artists of the city.
Within this framework, the action La casa di tutti was inscribed, which transformed the octagon-construction into a real house available to the users of the station. In the early hours of June 7, the transformation of the empty space into a home complete with a sofa, bookcase and kitchen began. Travelers passed by and enjoyed The House, asking questions about the nature of the action and proposing new solutions for the use of this and other spaces in the other stations of the Meneghina capital.
The results of this study, in the form of stories and interviews, are contained in a thesis that talks about artistic action in public space in Milan in 2012.
