Le Tre Grazie

Bilbao Art District, 18th May 2018

Three migrant women from the neighborhood of Bilbao La Vieja in their traditional costumes.
A performative route from Plaza Corazón de María in the Bilbao La Vieja neighborhood to Abando, passing through Azkuna Zentroa, Plaza Moyua and Gran Vía. During the tour the three women welcomed the passers-by who approached. They answered the questions that arose spontaneously. People listened to the stories of the three women and their experience as migrants in a neighborhood considered by the others to be a "problematic" neighborhood, even dangerous, streets forbidden to "good" people.

Afaf, Maria Teresa and Oksana have taken the 'echoes' of Bilbao La Vieja to other streets in Bilbao, letting themselves be known and giving back a different image of their neighborhood, an area full of life and stories. Of movement and work, where the integration between different cultures is sap that nurtures relationships, a multiculturalism that generates exchanges and weaves a colorful and lively landscape.

The action had as a starting point the meeting Ecos BLV organized by the group Not a Soho, a public talk in the framework of BiAD 2018, which took place on May 11, 2018 at the Marzana Pier, in the neighborhood of Bilbao La Vieja.  On this occasion, the daily problems that occur in the neighborhood were discussed with some representatives of the artistic community and the local socio-cultural fabric.
